Apparently there was actually a response to someone! [06 Aug 2007|11:44pm]
This link goes to I think the 5th post in [info]news that got spammed by offended and angry fans: http://news.livejournal.com/100610.html?thread=60163842#t60163842

It'll be interesting to see what announcement they make later today... Verrrry interesting.

In other news, I just used LJSec to mirror my entire [info]g_shadowslayer journal over on GreatestJournal, so don't be surprised if you have fits of deja vu there :)

Also, the story has finally been picked up by CNet.

And Brad -- you know, the guy who used to run LJ and sold it to 6A? Well, he doesn't want to know about the real story, but he's busy calling fans child pornographers, too. It's more than obvious that he has no idea what's actually going on, he's not going to bother finding out what's going on, and he's believing the party line. I'm more disappointed than anything else, but...

The 5 most recent posts on [info]news are maxxed out on comments, and the 6th one back is around 4350 comments now. Still nothing new on [info]news or [info]lj_biz.

And yes, 'Banned from Argo' is playing in my head right now, why do you ask? ;)

Let's just hope the folks in charge of LJ actually are capable of comprehending it, and whether they actually care...

http://community.livejournal.com/fan_essays/2267.html

And look -- here's something regarding 7/8 of my fic, especially the smut! "1985 AP Question: A critic has said that one important measure of a superior work of literature is its ability to produce in the reader a healthy confusion of pleasure and disquietude." Now, I certainly don't think my fic is "a superior work of literature" but considering the many comments I get that essentially say 'I enjoyed this and I'm not sure what that says about me' I'd say it still fits the bill. ;)

And here's one for the other 1/8 of the fic! "2002 AP Question: Morally ambiguous characters—characters whose behavior discourages readers from identifying them as purely evil or purely good—are at the heart of many works of literature."

Just a couple of links [05 Aug 2007|11:59pm]
So, I haven't seen a whole lot of new news yet, but here are some links to articles out there on off-LJ sites:

Firefox News -- Six Apart At It Again -- this one was when the mess was starting.

Firefox News -- Livejournal Employee Publicly Mocks Fandom -- and this one is about that post I mentioned before. See below for more re: that...

CNet News -- Democrats pushing for new Net sex predator laws -- we may want to keep an eye on this. Protecting children is all well and good, but we have to be careful they don't push too far...

And here is a post from the mod of the comm where he made those comments. Good for her! Apparently it's kind of an RP comm, but him going there and making those comments, using the same LJ that he uses to do official posts is still so completely wrong, whether they were serious or not. You just do not DO that...

And now I code the voting post for [info]simmstills and then go to bed, because we have to be up at 6:30am. Ugh. Sorry, folks!

They keep surprising me... [05 Aug 2007|12:14am]
...with how much they like the taste of their own feet.

Our buddy [info]burr86 doesn't have time to answer questions in [info]news or [info]lj_biz, but he has time to snark (and let's get right down to it, accuse fans of being pedos, which would be either slander or libel -- I'm not sure which one they count electronic publishing as) over here.

Nice and professional, that.

I wish I had more hope that 6A would fire him for what would actually be a pretty huge corporate blunder, but I doubt they're any more professional than he is.

But yeah, looks like it's on for real, now.

GIP -- because obviously LJ forgets what it was supposed to be used for [04 Aug 2007|09:08pm]
Anyone who wants to use it, feel free. 'Cause obviously they forgot that LJ is a social networking site, which means people talk to each other and their stupid secret shit doesn't stay secret for long.

Oh for... how boring is THAT [02 Aug 2007|05:16pm]
So. Our IT folks have decided that in order to "bring the Department into compliance with recent policy and procedural guidance for standardizing system-wide security controls" we're going to have a standard screensaver that we can't change.

Now, I'm all for the idea that a workstation will automatically lock after x number of minutes being idle -- that's cool. And I'm all for the idea that a workstation should have a passworded screensaver -- I've had mine set that way for aaaaaaages. The fact that they hadn't done that before now is kind of sad in a lot of ways.

BUT, to force us all to use some kind of standardized screensaver? Ugh. BOOOOOORING. Y'know, maybe if we had a departmental thingie like the cool Torchwood swirly blue thing, or the spinning SGC symbol, or even the pre-loaded Windows weird graphic lines thing, at least those are a LITTLE visually interesting.

Yet another thing that will be conspiring to put me to sleep at my desk...

Yay -- UPS found its brain! [23 Jul 2007|09:13am]
Unlike the last time I ordered some Lush stuff from mail order, this time the UPS facility seems to have remembered how to do their job! It arrived in the main distribution center at 9:47pm last night, and was actually on its way to the local distribution center by 3:47am today! It's actually out on the truck right now to be delivered! I may actually die of shock...

Now to hope that my meltables didn't, and that when I slather that Mask of Magnaminty all over my face tonight, it actually does something good for my oily skin. Ugh. Summer. Blech.

[ETA: and that they actually deliver it to the address instead of leaving it at the rental office right before they close...]

Warning to my flist -- HP-DH delays [21 Jul 2007|03:58am]
We didn't get a call tonight from Borders, or an e-mail. So we'll be picking it up tomorrow, on the way to work. I won't get to read it until at least Saturday night/Sunday morning. So please continue to be as helpful as you guys have been re: spoilers behind cuts and such.

*huggles you all* You guys are great!

WARNING - SPOILER TROLL MAYBE? [19 Jul 2007|05:01pm]
Anyone on my flist who also reads BRPS, I think they got hit by a HP-DH spoiler troll. I don't know for sure because I'm not going back to read the post and find out. I scrolled past it REALLY fast but saw some things that look like they might be HP-DH spoilers (the ones that are going around with the deaths on what pages)

If you read BRPS on your flist view, BE CAREFUL and watch out for a post entitled "HAY GUYZ!" from an LJ user named creepylove.
